Bonnie Sue Sparks Nelson

TUPELO — Bonnie Sue Sparks Nelson, 56, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley with Bro. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Memphis, she served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Eastern Star and worked for several years at Oxford-Lafayette County Hospital as an LPN. She was a faithful member of Sand Hill Methodist Church where she served as song leader and taught Sunday school to the younger children when needed. She loved to sing and enjoyed swimming and shopping. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Virgil Lynn Nelson, Jr. of Water Valley; sons, Scott Alexander Nelson and Joshua Paul “J.P.” Nelson, both of  Oxford; her parents, Bill and Gladys Sparks; three sisters, Cheryl Hanks and June Williams, both of Oxford, and Gayle Lane of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Bill Sparks of Oxford; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
