OXFORD – James “Pooh-Pie” Brassell, 54, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 4 at 11 a.m. at Clear Creek M.B. Church with burial in Orwood Cemetery in Oxford. Viewing was Friday, April 1 at Hodges Funeral Homes of Oxford, which was in charge of arrangements.

A native of Lafayette County, he was a laborer.

He is survived by two daughters, Angelica Wilson of Oxford and Candance Williams of Jackson; three sons, Terence Williams of Oxford, Kody Turner of Taylor and Desmond Brown Sr. of North Prairie, Wisconsin; five sisters, Sharon Brown of Abbeville, Patricia Pegues of Batesville, Eutha Brassell, Lawanda Brassell and Denice Frierson, all of Taylor; eight brothers, Thomas Brassell Sr. of Jackson, Norris Brassell Jr., Jerry Brassell Sr. and Terry Brassell, all of Taylor, James Tatum of Coffeeville, Michael McGiarn of Tennessee, Willie Brassell and Jimmy Brassell, both of Oxford.
