Shawanie Lekale Young and Mac Authur Carr announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

The couple will exchange vows at 4 p.m. Sept. 12, 2015 at Mount Gillion Church in Batesville. The reception will be held at the Life Center next to the church.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of William Young of Abbeville and the late Elizabeth “Bit” Young of Oxford.

She is the granddaughter of Minnie Mae Buford and the late Oliver Quarles and the late Curtis and Bessie Young.

A 1989 graduate of Oxford High School, she received her LPN degree in 1995 from Northwest Mississippi Community College. She earned her RN degree in 2012 from Itawamba Community College in Fulton. She currently is attending Mississippi University for Woman to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

The prospective groom is the son of Dortha Carr and the late George Crowder of Batesville and the grandson of the late Lue Daisy Carr of Batesville and the late Norman and Carrie Crowder of Batesville. He attended South Panola High in Batesville and is currently employed at Dunlap and Kyle Tire Company in Batesville.
