James “Jim” Dudley Jones, Jr. 71, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at his home in Abbeville. Funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Hope officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 this evening and also beginning at 12p.m. on Friday prior to the service at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Oxford, he was a retired inspector with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and also served in the United States Army National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who knew him as Big Daddy, and helping others in any way that he could. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Abbeville, where, for years, he served by delivering meals to those not able to make it to church. He loved his family with his whole heart and he loved God above all else.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Vines Jones of Abbeville; daughters, Kellye Russell of Abbeville and Keri Hunt of Oxford; brother, Dave Jones of Oxford; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
