ABBEVILLE — Lionel Buford, 62, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Springfield M.B. Church with the Rev. Jerry Malone officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abbeville. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Lafayette County, he was a disabled employee of the University of Mississippi. He loved all sports and was a member of Springfield MB Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Quarles of Abbeville; two girls he raised, Coretta Wilson and Chelsea Johnson, both of Oxford; two sisters, Eloise Woods and Ellen Granberry, both of Memphis; brother, Ralph Buford of Longview, Texas and five grandchildren.
