The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department reported two residential burglaries, with one on Highway 334 and one on Highway 6; and an attempted burglary on Highway 6.

Oxford Police

Officers investigated eight wrecks, issued 27 tickets and made four arrests on the following charges:

Driving while license suspended and DUI

Careless driving and DUI

Two for possession of drug paraphernalia

Officers issued three citations, investigated one wreck and the following reports:

Firefighters responded to the following calls:

Hairspray activated a smoke detector at 10:52 a.m. at the Phi Mu house on campus; no fire.

Smoke detector malfunction at 12:51 p.m. at the North Residential College; no fire.

Smoke detector malfunction at 7:15 p.m. at Lucky Day Residential College; no fire.

Smoke detector malfunction at 9:53 p.m. at Natural Products on campus; no fire.
