Oxford Police

Officers investigated nine wrecks, issued 40 tickets and made 20 arrests on the following charges:

Open container and fake ID

Four noise violations

Five suspicious activities


Two lost properties

Seven alarms

Simple assault

Credit card fraud

911 hang-up

Malicious mischief

University Police

Officers investigated one wreck and the following reports:

Service call




Switched tag and improper equipment

No seat belt

Speeding and fake ID

Sheriff’s Department

Deputies investigated one wreck and made two arrests on the following charges:

Trespassing, harassing phone calls and warrant served

Bench warrant


Two alarms



Malicious mischief

Six service calls

Two suspicious activities

Two welfare checks

Two transports

Civil matter

Four traffic complaints

Oxford Fire Department

Firefighters responded to the following calls:

Smoke from a barbecue activated the smoke detector at 3:23 p.m. at the Kappa Sigma house; no fire

Smoke detector malfunction at 8:18 p.m. at Natural Products on campus; no fire

Smoke detector hanging down from wall at 12:46 this morning at the Phi Mu house; fixed the detector

Resident was locked out of her apartment and requested help from OFD at 12:34 this morning at Highland Square.

Lafayette County Fire

Firefighters responded at 1:45 this morning to a general fire alarm at 102 Woodland Hills Drive but no cause was found.

County EMS

Eleven EMS calls were reported in the county.
