Oxford Intermediate School invites school parents to attend Family Literacy Night, where they can see firsthand how their students are encouraged to read daily while in school.

The event will be held Tuesday from 5:30  to 7 p.m. at OIS.

Parents and students can walk through various interactive stations throughout the school and personally experience the importance of recreational reading. Stations include: Biblionasium, MAE Eggbowl Reading Contest, Flipster digital magazines and Schoology.

“Parents play an integral role in their children’s educational growth,” said OIS Librarian Wendy Daughdrill. “Reading can be a family activity; if a child sees that their parent cares about their overall learning, and especially shares a love for reading, then that parent can foster their child’s love for reading as well.”

Free child care will be provided for children 2 years of age through fourth grade. Door prizes will be drawn at the school event. The event is free and open to all OIS parents and families.
