OXFORD — Elsie Varner Franklin, 95, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, with Dr. Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from noon until service time. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lafayette County, she was an active member of North Oxford Baptist Church. She was a member of the NOBC “Ball” Team and the Oxford Park Commission Avengers.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Preston “Jack” Franklin; sister, Sadie Lois Varner Joyner; and two brothers, Willie Arthur Varner and Thomas Marvin Varner.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth Franklin King and Marilyn Franklin Innman, both of Oxford; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
