CLARKSDALE — Ruthie Taylor Brown, 85, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at UAB-Birmingham. Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at Westview Baptist Church in Clarksdale with interment in Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale with Stephen Howell and Donnie Brown officiating. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lambert, she had lived in this area since 1990 when she and her husband moved from Clarksdale. They had owned and operated Clarksdale Refrigeration for many years. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening until her health failed. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her much pleasure. She was a member of the Westview Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Billy” Brown.

She is survived by a son, Donnie Brown of Laurel, and a daughter, Debra Brown Jenkins of Oxford; brother, Eddy Taylor Greenville; three sisters, Betty Jo McBroom of Germantown, Tennessee, Pat Hoke of Tioga, Louisiana, and Margaret Sanders of Brandon; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
