Dr. Henry Buford Pace

WATER VALLEY — Dr. Henry Buford Pace, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at the Swing Bed Unit of the Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Oxford with the Rev. Ann Kelly officiating. Interment will be in the Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at the church. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Thomasville, Tennessee, Dr. Pace and his family had lived in Oxford since 1968. A retired professor of physiology and pharmacology from the University of Mississippi, he was also the Director of Osteopathic Medicine for Mississippi. He was a cattle farmer and a tree farmer. A veteran of the United States Army, Dr. Pace was a member of the Elk Lodge in St. Louis, Missouri, and of the First Presbyterian Church of Oxford. He took great pleasure in spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Along with his parents, his wife Phyllis R. Pace preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son, Joe Pace of Oxford; daughter, Jennifer Pace of Oxford; sister, Anita Williams of Albany, Oregon; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Henry Pace Scholarship at the School of Osteopathic Medicine at William Carey University, Hattiesburg.
