A Lafayette County man died Thursday when his car went off the side of the road for unknown reasons Thursday evening.

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Ray Sockwell Jr. said Bobby D. Mitchell, 75, was travelling on County Road 313 at about 5:30 p.m. when his car left the road and rolled over.

Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene. Sockwell said Mitchell’s body was brought to Jackson for an autopsy.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck and no other injuries were reported.

The wreck is still under investigation.
