Oxford Fire Department

Had a call to 2301 South Lamar Blvd., which was canceled en route, for a fire alarm at the hospital.

At 1:25 p.m. got a call to 114 Courthouse Square at Ox- ford Grillehouse for a smell of gas and nothing was found.

Went to the airport for a standby on a plane coming in at 5:01 p.m.

At 1001 Jackson Ave. East there was a smell of smoke at the Mequite Chop House at 6:11 p.m.

Lafayette County Fire

Firefighters received a call of a cotton field on fire at 7:27 a.m. on Highway 7 near Hill- top. It was a small controlled burn when they arrived.

At 10:27 a.m. firefighters responded to a controlled burn that got out of control on 14 File Road. It was mu- tual aid for Panola County.
