Betty Whiteside Shelton, 88, of Byhalia, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be today beginning at 1 p.m. until service time at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, she was a retired secretary for AT&T and an active member of First Baptist Church of Holly Springs, where she served as a greeter each Sunday morning. She loved cooking for her family and friends, gardening and sewing. She adored her family and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest F. Shelton.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Michael Shelton of Byhalia, and Ernest Glenn Shelton of South Daytona, Florida; two sisters, Pearl Keel of Coldwater, and Mary Jane Shaw of Coffeeville; one brother, Larry Whiteside of Water Valley; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
