Laurenzo inducted

into Sewanee group

Juliet Katherine Laurenzo of Oxford was inducted into the Order of Gownsmen at the University of the South during Founders’ Day Convocation on Oct. 16.

Laurenzo is the daughter of Dorothy & John Frederick Laurenzo.

The Order of Gownsmen is an academic honor society and a unique student government body among U.S. colleges and universities. Since 1875 the Order of Gownsmen has remained the body responsible for maintaining the spirit, traditions, and ideals of the University of the South. The wearing of the gown is both a sign of academic achievement and a promise to continue the ideals and traditions of the University.

Northwest sponsoring

an education college fair

The Northwest Mississippi Community College Division of Education will sponsor an Education College Fair on Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. in McClendon Commons on the Senatobia campus.

The purpose of the event, which is hosted by the Northwest Education Association, is for Northwest students from all campuses who plan to transfer to a four-year university or college and major in education to be able to meet with representatives from 16 universities and colleges. College representatives will give  information about scholarships and other opportunities available to transfer students.

Colleges slated to be on hand for the event are Millsaps College, Toogaloo College, Bellhaven University, Mississippi College, The University of Mississippi, University of Memphis, Alcorn State University, University of Southern Mississippi, Delta State University, Blue Mountain College, Rust College, Mississippi State University, The University of Mississippi at DeSoto Center, Christian Brother University, Mississippi University for Women and William Carey University.
