OXFORD — Sandra Kay Varnum, 73, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford. There are no plans for a memorial service at this time. Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Born in Hannibal, Missouri, she had lived on the Gulf Coast for many years before Hurricane Katrina forced her to move. During her working life, she pursued her passion as a registered nurse. She worked for many years in this capacity for Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, Illinois. Traveling and camping, especially during the fall, were things she enjoyed, as well as searching antique stores to add to her cobalt blue glass collection.

She is survived by her husband, Falcom Helms of Batesville; a son, Scott Lovelace of Jonesboro, Illinois; two daughters, Amy Deal of Abbeville and Lauri Lovelace of Pope; brother, Richard Shackleford of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters, Carolyn Maddox of Kansas City, Missouri and Garland Carter of Aroma Park, Illinois; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
