PARIS, Mississippi — Lavelle Harmon Dalton, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, at her home in Paris, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley. Burial will be in the Paris Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. today at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in the Paris community in Lafayette County, she was an active and faithful member of Paris Baptist Church. She was previously employed at Big Yank (formerly Rice Stix) in Water Valley. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading her Bible and studying God’s Word, gardening and flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James Dalton; sisters, Faye Coulter, Joyce Yarbrough and Macie Castleberry; and brothers, Marton Harmon, Mayford Harmon, Tom Harmon and John Harmon.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Ruth Dalton of Paris; her son, Ricky Dalton of Paris; two grandchildren; her sister, Laverne Thompson of Water Valley; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
