WATER VALLEY — Marie W. Gillis, 95, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at Yalobusha County Nursing Home in Water Valley. A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Black officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Lafayette County, she was a retired deputy tax collector for the City of Oxford. She was a member of Oxford-University United Methodist Church for over 60 years and was involved in many civic organizations.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Hamilton of Taylor; her son, Don Gillis of Oxford; sister, Faye Fudge of Oxford; six grandchildren and four-great grandchildren.
