Braxton Briscoe

BATESVILLE — Braxton “Brax” Briscoe, 81, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Golden Living Convalescent Center in Batesville. Funeral services will be held on Friday at noon at St. Peter’s M.B. Church with the Rev. Odell Draper Jr., officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Homes and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Hodges Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Panola County, he was a retired construction worker.

He is survived by two sons, Willie Earl Briscoe of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Michael Cooper of Chicago, Illinois; two stepsons, Marcus Gross of Batesville and Calvin Toliver of Atlanta, Georgia; four daughters, Julia Toliver of Senatobia, Geraldean Briscoe of Milwaukee, Shalanda Miller of Sardis and Danielle Briscoe of Batesville; four stepdaughters, Ozzie Lee Wilson of Warner Robbins, Georgia, Ester Mae Thompson and Georgia Bell, both of Sardis, and Catherine Brown of Tupelo; two sisters, Geneaver Williams of Sardis and Queenie Perry of Batesville; brother, Silas Briscoe of Sardis; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
