OXFORD — Bobby B. Carnell, 81, of Oxford, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, after a long illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Bro. Earl Rush, Bro. Stark Aldridge and Bro. Wesley Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Kingdom Cemetery in Yocona. Visitation will be held tonight from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday beginning at 1 p.m. until service time at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements..

Born in Carroll County, Tennessee, he and his wife, Juanita, moved to Oxford in 1958 where he was a masonry contractor. He retired later from the Oxford-Lafayette School of Applied Technology as a building trades instructor. He served as the president and an operator of the Yocona Water Association for 33 years. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at New Prospect Baptist Church before becoming a deacon at Toccopola Baptist Church. He also served and was honorably discharged from the Armed Services. He also served as the president of the North Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association and was an avid Beagler and owner of Lizard Creek Kennels.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Juanita Carnell of Oxford; his daughters, Anita Carnell of Gonzalez, Louisiana, Bobbie Jean Riales, Tucson, Arizona, Sharen Willis of Natchez and Karen Popernik of Oxford; his sister, Reba McGehee of Cabot, Arkansas; his brothers, Eugene Carnell of Humboldt, Tennessee, and Ralph Carnell of Gadsden, Tennessee; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
