OXFORD — Curtis Edward Presley Jr., 87, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Clarksdale. Visitation will be today from 5-6:30 p.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church in Oxford and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time at First UMC in Clarksdale. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Rena Lara, he graduated from Clarksdale High School before joining the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge. He attended Ole Miss one year before attending and graduating from Auburn University. He farmed in and around Rena Lara and also worked at First National Bank in Clarksdale until his retirement. He and his wife settled in Oxford in 2010. A long-time member of First UMC in Clarksdale, he loved teaching Sunday school, and later became a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Oxford.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Eva Crumpton Presley; daughters Mary Brownlee Couch and Grace Sandlin; son Curtis Edward Presley III; and eight grandchildren.
