The Mississippi Highway Patrol released the name of the victim of a fatal wreck that occurred early this morning.

Shelbi Shute, 26, of Oxford was traveling east on Highway 334 near County Road 415 at 6:45 a.m. when her 2000 Honda left the road and struck a tree. The cause of the wreck is still under investigation by MHP.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal wreck this morning that occurred at 6:30 a.m. on Highway 334. Early reports from the sheriff’s department say it was a one-vehicle wreck, where the vehicle went off the side of the road for unknown reasons, and one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased is being held pending notification of next of kin.
