WATER VALLEY — Elaine Lancaster Mize, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at Yalobusha General Nursing Home in Water Valley. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Buster Wilson and the Rev. Ross Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at noon at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Oxford, she was retired from the Lafayette County Circuit Clerk’s office where she worked as Deputy Clerk. She was a homemaker for many years before beginning her career. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and a former member of the Yocona Homemaker’s Club. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who found great joy in working in her yard and flowers.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy E. Mize and her daughter, Sharon Mize McDonald.

Survivors include her daughter, Lane Mize Martin of Oxford; son, Everett Mize of Oxford; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
