TUPELO — Taylor Holcomb McElroy Jr. of Oxford died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, in Tupelo at Sanctuary Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Ann Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. until service time at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Oxford, he graduated with a BSCE degree from the University of Mississippi in 1950. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity while at Ole Miss. Upon graduation from Ole Miss, he was employed by Merritt, Chapman and Scott Corp., in New York City. He was also employed with the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) where he worked as project engineer.

He was a faithful and devoted member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, an Eagle Scout, and member of the Order of the Arrow in the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed earning merit badges, hunting, fishing, yard work and his favorite honey-dos.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Loffer.

He is survived by his wife, Sara McElroy of Oxford; sons, Taylor McElroy III of Brandon and Paul McElroy of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Susan Fraysier of Tupelo; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
