Bettye Jo Horne Yancy

Bettye Jo Horne Yancy, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at Oxford Health & Rehab in Oxford. 

The funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. 

Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Born in Taylor to the late Noel Chandler and Bertha Briscoe Horne, Yancy was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.  Formerly, she was a charter member of Temple Heights Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and kept the nursery. Raising her children while working at First National Bank, she appropriately earned the title as matriarch of her family and found much joy in taking care of her children, her mother and her sister. She enjoyed studying Lafayette County genealogy and flower gardening. 

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Bumgardner and a grandson, Robert Carlton Yancy.

Survivors include her daughter, Lori Yancy of Oxford; a son, Jimmy Yancy of Taylor; a sister, Mary Anderson of Jackson, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Kim Lavoie Oxford and Whitt Yancy of Taylor and four great-grandchildren, Teagan, Talan, Tillie Grace and Thatcher Lavoie.
