PEORIA, Illinois — Guy Bernard “Guy B” Porter Sr., 79, formerly of Oxford, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Sharon Health Care Willow Nursing Home in Peoria, Illinois. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Vera Mae Hodges Chapel of Remembrance with the Rev. Eddie Goliday officiating. Hodges Funeral Homes of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

A retired laborer, he was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by five daughters, Velma Porter Shorter of Chicago, Illinois, Veronical Joyce Johnson of Southaven, Mahogany Porter of Champaign, Illinois, Felisa Porter Redmond and Sallie Porter Wilson, both of Oxford; four sons, Donnell Porter of Tupelo, W.C. Porter of Jackson, Guy B. Porter Jr. and Timothy Bernard Porter, both of Oxford; a sister, Mary Alice Burt of Oxford; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
