Oxford High School’s theatre program has been in rehearsal this week for their latest production, the Christmas holiday classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which will be performed nightly at 7:30 through Saturday in the Kayla Mize Auditorium.

This will be the third performance of the school year for the company. They will also perform “Little Shope of Horrors” in February and “Inherit the Wind” in April.

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” is a TV classic that is celebrating 50 years. The Charles Schultz “Peanuts” strip came to life on Dec. 9, 1965 on CBS television and has been a mainstay of Christmas for generations ever since.

It tells the story of Charlie Brown and his search for the true meaning of Christmas, touching upon the over commercialization of the holiday and secularism as Charlie Brown directs the school Christmas play. Along the way, he and his pal Linus, Lucy and Snoopy discover what Christmas is really all about.

Tickets for the play are $10 for adults and $5 for all students and may be purchased at the door.
