Theatre Oxford auditions Saturday

Theatre Oxford is hosting auditions for True West at the Powerhouse on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m..

There are four roles available: three adult males (Austin, early 30s; Lee, the older brother; and Saul, a seasoned producer) and one adult female (Austin and Lee’s Mom, 60s). Scripts are available at the Powerhouse for perusal.

Audition material will be available at auditions, but prepared monologues are welcome.

The story centers on a sibling rivalry between grown brothers who have a modern-day showdown in their mother’s home. The play was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 1983.

According to Lyn Gardner, critic for The Guardian, True West is “one of those plays whose status is so assured, to start questioning it feels a bit like asking whether King Lear is any good.”
