OXFORD — Winnie F. McCaskill, 83, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at her home in Oxford. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Barksdale officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.

Born in Maben, she met her husband, Joe, at Millsaps College and they were married in 1953. She was a former teacher in the Oxford Public School System. A member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, she was active in the church choir, Sunday school, women’s programs, adult fellowships, football game day program sales and worship services. Her quiet demeanor, ready smile and loyalty to friends and neighbors were so evident.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe McCaskill of Oxford; son, Barry McCaskill of Jackson and two grandchildren.
