Northwest community college announces president’s list

The president’s list for the fall 2015 semester at Northwest Mississippi Community College has been released by college officials and includes area students:

Those students completing 12 or more semester hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or better in a four-point system are on the President’s List.

Samford University’s dean’s list includes Oxford native

Peyton L. Hamann of Oxford has been named to Samford University’s dean’s list.

The list is posted after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework.

Dean’s list is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

The following Delta State University student is listed on the president’s list for the 2015 fall semester. For the honor, a grade-point average from 3.8 through 4.0 is required of full-time students carrying at least 12 semester hours.

Ole Miss professor appointed

to EPA science advisory board

A University of Mississippi administrator and professor widely respected for his leadership and research has been appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board.

Nosa O. Egiebor, professor of chemical engineering and senior international officer and executive director of UM’s Office of Global Engagement, will serve a three-year term ending in September 2018. He is also a member of the SAB’s Environmental Engineering Committee.

The U.S. EPA Science Advisory Board includes leading scientific experts from the environmental community. Congress created the board in 1978 to advise the EPA in policymaking based on “the best environmental decisions to protect human health and the environment.”

“My main assignment is to serve as a chemical engineering expert within the Environmental Engineering Committee, and to provide independent scientific, technical and professional advice on significant environmental science and technology issues to the EPA administrator,” Egiebor said. “Such expert guidance is essential to the EPA’s ability to protect public health and safeguard the environment for all Americans.”
