Published 12:00 pm Friday, February 5, 2016

While we encourage those who have just turned 18, or have not yet registered to vote to do so year-round, it is very important to register this week if you want to have a say in the upcoming primary election on March 8.

This is the last week to register to vote in the primary, and we challenge Lafayette County residents to register and make sure they cast a vote in the polls. There are so many critical issues facing the United States — terrorism, national debt, foreign policy and border security to name a few. The next presidential candidate has the opportunity to shape our nation with new policies and plans to address these issues. Our residents must be present at the polls to ensure Lafayette County’s voice is heard.

Registering to vote is simple – just visit the Lafayette County Circuit Clerk’s office and bring your ID. Even those who are not yet 18, but will be by the Nov. 8 general election, can register to vote in the March 8 polls.
