WATER VALLEY — Oneil Sprouse Johnston, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Aven and Bro. James West officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Yalobusha County. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Water Valley, she retired from Big Yank in Water Valley where she worked as a seamstress. She was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church and lifetime member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW. Known for her homemade caramel cake, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, taking care of her family and helping others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert “Bill” Clark and later by her husband, Donald Johnston; daughter Peggy Simmons Shields; brothers Thomas Sprouse, Rayford Sprouse, Bill Hendricks and Dale Hendricks and a granddaughter.

She is survived by daughters, Jane Wason of Milton, Florida and Bessie McCloud of Batesville; son J.C. Womble of Water Valley; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
