The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man Tuesday who they claim was involved in a shooting outside of the Popular Trends store off County Road 334 earlier in the day.

Investigator Alan Wilburn said a call came into the sheriff’s department at 12:40 this afternoon reporting a shooting. When Wilburn arrived, the alleged victim had already been taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi by a witness. The victim was interviewed at the hospital and told investigators he was shot by Robert Houston.

Houston, 27, of Oxford, was picked up without incident about 5:15 p.m. and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm. He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he remains this morning, awaiting his first appearance bond hearing.
