A local man was arrested Wednesday on a warrant on charges of kidnapping and extortion for an incident that occurred on March 8.

Investigators say Mark A. Duncan, 28, was using personal and private information not meant for public knowledge against his former girlfriend. The alleged victim reported that Duncan had been blackmailing her and demanding money from her to not make the information public. She allegedly paid Duncan some money and when she refused to continue to do so, Duncan allegedly kidnapped her at gunpoint and made drive him around to various places. She was eventually let go and she reported the incident to the sheriff’s department. A warrant was issued for Duncan who was picked up Wednesday without incident in Saltillo by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

He is being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center, awaiting his first appearance bond hearing.
