At 12:45 this morning, Oxford police officers responded to Robinson Road for a report of an assault. They say Kevin Pegues, 30, of Oxford hit another man in the face with a baseball bat. The victim was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis with extensive damage to his head and face; however, investigators say he is expected to make a full recovery.

Pegues was arrested and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was charged with aggravated assault. He is being held on no bond, pending a first appearance hearing this morning.
