NEW ALBANY — Sydney Thomas French III, 59, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at his home in New Albany. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in New Albany with the Rev. Barry Male officiating. United Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, he was a retired food service professional and had worked in Yosemite, New Orleans, Jackson and Oxford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney Thomas French Jr., and Norma Miller French.

He is survived by his son, Gavin French of Nashville, Tennessee; sister Mary Elizabeth “Sissy” French of New Albany; brothers Miller French of Jackson, Bill French of New Albany, Cooper French of Atlanta, Georgia and Russell French of Birmingham, Alabama; and one grandson.
