In the world of college athletes today, it is refreshing to see that Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell is giving back to the Lafayette-Oxford-University community he called home for three years.

Treadwell is holding a football camp in Oxford on Saturday at FNC Park from 5-9 p.m. for 200 players aged 6-16. Treadwell has partnered with Everett Sports Marketing to make this camp a reality.

Treadwell, instead of taking a fee from the marketing company, has decided to forego compensation and will use that money to help pay the $75 registration fee for 55 low-income and underprivileged campers.

The camp will focus on fundamentals and Treadwell will be in charge of the wide receiver station. Other Ole Miss football players will be in attendance to help in different aspects of the game.

Treadwell also will talk with the campers about picking a role model, about being a leader and how people handle leadership roles. “I’ve built a relationship with some of the kids at the grade schools here. We wanted to figure out how to give it back to the kids in the community,” according to Treadwell in response to why he wanted to have his first camp in Oxford.

As many negatives that we see in college sports today, we applaud Treadwell on his giving back to a community that has witnessed his unbelievable talent the last three years at Ole Miss.
