Museum an asset for area

Parents in the region have an asset in the University Museum.
It was recently ranked among the top in the nation for college museums and its programs for children and their parents helped make that possible.
One way the University Museum reaches out to the area’s parents is by hosting creative art and educational events at all times of the year, and especially during the summer months and holiday weekends.
This weekend at 9 a.m. is a museum stroller tour called Buie Babies and it’s completely free.
Families with babies and toddlers can come take a look at what’s in the museum for the first-ever event, and following a tour there will be a baby/toddler play-and-snack time using toys from Oxford’s Family Resource Center. This event is also being held in conjunction with the LOU Excel By 5 Coalition.
The children will learn in fun and creative ways, have a stimulating play date and parents can meet and network with other parents. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
We thank the museum for keeping residents stimulated and the coalition for joining forces to ensure children are learning and getting an early start at success.
