OXFORD — Ruth Tatum Walker, 89, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at her home in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Taylor, she was a retired real estate agent. She was a member of Union West Baptist Church and attended Adonai Church. She found great enjoyment in growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. She made beautiful creations by crocheting and quilting. She was always looking for treasures at yard sales and antique shops.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Roy Elgin and Leslie Dee Ramsey; sisters Corrine Womack, Irene Carothers and Mary Elizabeth Starling and brothers, Claude and Forest Tatum.

She is survived by her son, Dwight David Ramsey of Oxford; stepdaughter Dorsha Kennin of Sommerville, Tennessee; step-son Matthew Walker of Radcliff, Kentucky; sister Evelyn LoNigro of Sand Pedro, California; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a special niece who cared for her during her illness, Jan Massey.
