Oxford man killed in Calhoun County crash

An Oxford man died Friday afternoon in a crash in Calhoun County.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol’s Greg Bell, emergency crews responded to the two-vehicle crash on Mississippi Highway 9 North at 2:33 p.m. Friday just north of Bruce.

Bell said a blue 2013 Ford F150 was traveling south on Highway 9. A black 2010 Ford F150 was traveling north on Highway 9. The black Ford crossed the center line and entered the southbound lane at which time it collided head-on with the blue Ford. The blue Ford traveled off the west side of Highway 9 and came to rest facing east. The black Ford rotated and came to rest in the middle of Highway 9, facing southwest.

The driver of the blue Ford, 67-year-old Max R. Miller of Oxford, died of injuries sustained during the collision while being transported to the hospital. His passengers, 37-year-old Ryan Miller and two small children, all sustained moderate injuries during the collision. The three passengers were transported to Calhoun County Medical Clinic.

The driver of the black Ford, 28-year-old Jakob H. Williams of Horn Lake, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. His condition was unknown Saturday afternoon.

The jaws of life were used to extract both drivers.

The accident remains under investigation by MHP.
