The Double Decker Arts Festival brings tens of thousands of people to Oxford each spring in an event that is all-around beneficial to the city, its residents and the artists who travel in from far and wide.

The tourism and tax dollars are beneficial. The entertainment and giving residents and students something positive and fun to do is an asset.

We thank those who have worked hard to make this festival happen the past few months, and we also thank the police and security officers who worked overtime this weekend to ensure everyone’s safety.

The Double Decker Festival, now in its 21st year, all goes back to Oxford Alderwoman Robyn Tannehill, who came up with the idea back in 1995. It was great forward thinking on her part and Oxford owes so much to her spearheading the annual event’s creation and helping keep it going all these years.

We hope when the count is complete on attendance that it exceeds all expectations and is another record-setting year here in Oxford where more people can learn about what all the city offers and want to come back again, whether it is to eat at a restaurant, shop on the Square, pick up something at a business they might not have in their hometown or whatever they might have enjoyed most about their visit.
