In February, the Ole Miss athletic department in conjunction with the baseball team announced plans for a $13 million dollar project that will enhance the student-athlete experience as well as enhancing the gamely experience for fans.

The project consists of a new team performance center, dugout club and a rooftop plaza on the first base side of the stadium. In February, the plans were in the early stages, but on Thursday morning, the athletic department announced Cooke Douglass Farr Lemons Architects (CDFL Sports) has been selected as the architect for the project.

It will be CDFL’s third project on Ole Miss’ campus as they helped with the expansion of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium as well as lighting of the football practice fields and the design of the Olivia and Archie Manning Athletics Performance Center.

“Once, again, we are happen to partner with CDFL Sports to complete another expansion and renovation project within our athletics complex,” Ole Miss athletics director Ross Bjork said in a statement. “CDFL has done tremendous work at Ole Miss and has helped make our athletics facilities among the best in the country. We are excited with the plans they have in place for the new baseball performance center and upgrades to Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.”

The performance center received a boost with a generous lead gift from Ed and Jan Trehern. The center will feature a new clubhouse, training room, weight room and player’s lounge. It will be built on the first base side of the stadium, which means the Rebels will switch over to the first-base dugout beginning next season.

“The Trehern family and its foundation are very excited to be a part of this new era of facilities for Ole Miss baseball, Ed Trehern said in a statement.

The dugout club will be a new feature to the stadium and will have 330 seats and give fans a look at the Rebels as they leave the clubhouse and head to the field. There will also be four rows of box seats behind home plate.

The rooftop plaza will be built above the performance center and has been jumpstarted with a $1.5 million donation from the M-Club toward the Forward Together campaign. All the renovations will increase the O-U Stadium capacity from 10,323 to 10,715.
