Business owners beware

It seems there is one scam after the other these days.
The latest is targeting business owners who already have enough to deal with without worrying about losing more money in this economy.
The Better Business Bureau over Mississippi is reporting numerous complaints about scammers misleading businesses into thinking they bought online ads and directory listings with the Yellow Pages.
Businesses were sent an invoice for $496.95 for services they did not initiate. Many businesses just pay the invoice thinking they are paying for their ad, but in reality it’s going to someone ruining a lot of people’s lives who simply copied and pasted the Yellow Pages logo and made some invoices.
It never hurts to be extra cautious when paying bills. Call the agency sending the bill if something looks awry. Check the address the agency is requesting your money be sent to. Look at all of your invoices carefully. Did you get a bill over email or fax? Odds are it is not legit.
These rules should be incorporated at home and at work. The biggest thing to remember is to be cautious and never hesitate to ask questions of someone sending you a bill, whether it is your doctor or someone who recently performed a service.
