The Coca-Cola Company contacted the Oxford Police Department on April 27 regarding recent thefts from vending machines in the Oxford area that spanned from September 2015 through April. The total amount stolen was $19,224. A positive identification was made from photos and a warrant was issued for the arrest of Jimmy Evans, 67, of Potts Camps.

Evans recently retired from Coca-Cola and was allegedly using his employee key to unlock the machines and take the coins out from inside the machine.

Evans turned himself in on Wednesday at the Oxford Police Department and was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $2,500 bond.
