This spring, Hollywood Feed launched a new program designed to help pets receive the products they need in shelters throughout Hollywood Feed markets in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.

Through June, as part of the “You Buy, We Give” program, when customers buy select products, Hollywood Feed will donate product to local shelters and animal rescue groups.

Donated products include critical items for rescue pets such as flea and tick prevention, pet shampoo, identification tags, beds, chew toys and more. For example, every time a customer purchases a bag of Fromm pet food, Hollywood Feed will donate a pound of food to a local shelter.

In all, Hollywood Feed donates an estimated 50 tons of dog and cat food annually.

“We are dedicated to improving the lives of pets wherever their shelter may be,” Shawn McGhee, president of Hollywood Feed, said. “This program is just one more way we can show support to the shelters and rescue groups in our communities, as well as all of the compassionate team members and volunteers that help rehabilitate these pets.”

McGhee noted that pet overpopulation in America is about more than spaying and neutering pets.

“Of the 7 million animals living in shelters in the U.S., one-third of them are surrendered by their owners for reasons such as the cost of pet care and behavioral issues,” McGhee said. “We want to alleviate this problem by providing shelters with the products they need to help homeless animals successfully transition into adoptable pets.”
