GRENADA – Lester Solomon Norwood, 91, formerly of Water Valley, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Grace Health and Rehab Center in Grenada. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Jumper’s Chapel Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at Seven Oaks Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Winterville, he worked for many years in the orange groves of Florida and later moved to Water Valley and retired from Holley Carburetor as a quality operator. He was a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed traveling, working in his yard and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Charles Norwood; sister Lorene Roberts and brothers, Robert Norwood, James Norwood, Buford Norwood and Delbert Norwood.

He is survived by daughters Mildred Kendall of Tillatoba, Mary Jane Beard of Water Valley and Marilyn Marie Norwood of Florida; sons Jimmy Dale Norwood of Coffeeville, Lester E. Norwood and Elmer Lee Norwood, both of Water Valley, and Ralph Norwood of Florida; 13 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
