Workshop ensures success

Arts are a thriving portion of the LOU community and also provide lucrative businesses for many local artists. That’s why it is important to keep the arts growing within our area.

This week, artists and those who enjoy the arts locally had the chance to learn more about the business side through the Arts Incubator Workshop.

Sponsored by the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and hosted by the Edison, the event passed along knowledge to 10 regional artists for improving and developing their small business, as well as copyright laws to avoid legal disputes.

The Arts Incubator workshops have been around as a quarterly series for several years and the next available event is set for the first week of August. We hope more artists will attend and gather more knowledge that will help them to grow and understand the business side of the lucrative art market that many of us enjoy.

We also applaud YAC Executive Director Wayne Andrews and all those who help make the workshops possible in bringing in exerts and guest speakers. Through their endeavor, they are keeping the arts in our community relevant and growing, while also allowing us to enjoy some of the finest art in the world.
