A Water Valley woman was arrested Tuesday by the Oxford Police Department for allegedly cashing checks that didn’t belong to her.

Investigators say that Samantha Albritton, 29, and a friend cashed unauthorized checks for more than $1,000 that belonged to a business without the consent of the holder of the checking account.

She was charged with uttering forgery and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where she was booked on a $2,500 bond.

The case is still under investigation.
