HOUSTON, Texas – Jane Anderson Hernandez, 67, formerly of Ripley, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, in Houston, Texas. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of McBride Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time at McBride Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Ripley, she was a 1965 graduate of Ripley High School and was a 1969 graduate of the University of Mississippi, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She continued her education, obtaining a Master of Science in biology from Baylor University. She taught for more than 30 years in the Houston School District until her retirement.

She is survived by sister, Carolyn Anderson Hopkins of Oxford; nephew John L. Hopkins Jr. of Oxford and numerous cousins.
