OXFORD – Mary Elizabeth Connell, 91, died Friday, June 10, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Waller Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Umberger officiating. Burial will follow in Acree Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held this evening from 4-6 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Ruleville, she was a member of Acree Hill Church. She was a homemaker and took pride in caring for her family. She enjoyed quilting, canning and cooking.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd James Connell and three sisters.

She is survived by daughters Lorie Smith of Oxford, Anita Harris and Nina Connell, both of Batesville; sons Gerald Connell and Lloyd Connell, both of Southaven, Milton Connell and Steven Connell, both of Batesville, and Warner Connell of Plantersville; sister Pat Ward of Missouri; brother Edward Lane of Tunice; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
